In a hard-fought battle, Hilton Head Christian Academy's Varsity Girls Basketball team defeated Palmetto Christian 32-21, earning the chance to win a 4th straight State Championship title.
In Thursday's game, the Lady Eagles took control early going up 17-7 in the first quarter led by Senior Skylar Smith who grabbed three 3-pointers. They extended the lead to 24-9 at the half with outstanding team defense against the taller and longer opponent.
HHCA came out the third quarter looking to get PCA out of their 3-2 zone and matchups man to man but they stayed in the zone finally coming out to play man to man in the fourth quarter as the Lady Eagles ran their delay to the end of the game.
Tamya Hutchinson led the way with 13 points, Skylar Smith tallied 9 and Abby Peduzzi added 8.
HHCA (25-2) plays Orangeburg Preparatory School on Saturday at 6:30 PM for the State Championship title at the Sumter Civic Center in Sumter, SC.
A win would mean the Eagles' fourth consecutive State Championship, and all fans are encouraged to join the HHCA Eagle community in Sumter to cheer on the Eagles in the historic matchup.
